Biking on the road bicycle in the world championship region Salburgerland stands for beautiful landscapes to enjoy: Between arboreous peaks of the Osthorngruppe in the north and east, in the west rise the Alps of Berchtesgaden, in the south-east stretches over the Tennengebirge. In the middle of this especially for road bikes shaped world lies the Tennengau.
The municipality Eugendorf counts 6.500 inhabitants, is called also ˜door of Salzburg” and is situated in the north-east of the capital city Salzburg. It’s situated at the foot of the Tennengebirge and it’s an ideal starting point for star-shaped round tours in the Salzburger Land. Intact landscapes, a rich cultural offer and an excellent cuisine accompany road biker.
In 2006 our region was scene of the road bike championship. In 2007 took place the first Eddy Merckx Classic. Also in 2008 it was a real event at which participated the best bikers of the world and in 2009 will take place its third edition.
Many professional bikers love the Salzburger Land and appreciate the beautiful region in summer and winter. First of all the natural beauties, the variegated landscape, the green pastures and many lakes let become road bike tours around Eugendorf an active adventure.
Not only bon vivants and families find their favourite routes amongst the beginner tours. Also professional bikers get their money's worth. The unexpected view of breathtaking landscapes is invaluable. We recommend a rest, or even the combination swim & bike on a picturesque lake like Fuschelsee or Wolfgangsee. The tableland of the Postalm is the area with most huts in Austria. Numerous huts invite with regional dishes for a rest. Many of them are situated on the route.
